To Love and To Be Loved

Dear Diary,

A very poor man lived with his wife.

One day, his wife, who had very long hair asked him to buy her a comb for her hair to grow well and to be well-groomed.

The man felt very sorry and said no. He explained that he did not even have enough money to fix the strap of his watch that had just broken.

She did not insist on her request.

The man went to work and passed by a watch shop, sold his damaged watch at a low price and went to buy a comb for his wife.

He came home in the evening with the comb in his hand ready to give to his wife.

He was surprised when he saw his wife with a very short haircut.

She had sold her hair and was holding a new watch band.

Tears flowed simultaneously from their eyes, not for the futility of their actions, but for the reciprocity of their love.

To love is nothing, to be loved is something but to love and to be loved by the one you love, that is EVERYTHING. Never take love for granted.

12 Wonderful Years

Dear Diary,

People say time flies so fast when you're having fun. Well, I can vouch for that. It has been 12 wonderful years being married to my dear Hubby.

Yup, it's our anniversary.

I promise to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness and to have the patience that love demands, to speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they are not and to live within the warmth of your heart and always call it home.

Quality Hotel City Center Kuala Lumpur, Aug 2012

Dear Diary,

Compared to previous fasting month where we enjoyed whirlwind of Ramadan buffets, we only broke fast at hotel twice last Ramadan. Both times were at Quality Hotel Kuala Lumpur. It’s better than nothing and for that we’re very thankful.

Hubby likes patronizing Quality Hotel Ramadan buffet simply because not only we’d be delighted in savoring good foods but we’d also be enjoying performance by Dee and his artists. They sang, performed comedy and picked lucky draw. Kira dapat 2-in-1 la!

Priced at RM65.00 per adult and RM35.00 per child, it was themed Buffet Ramadan Sajian Tradisi bersama Dee and is halal certified. Ramadan buffet 2012 was more variety than the year before. Guests were spoilt with so many different choices. Jenuh gak la nak habiskan satu round! The lauk-pauk were very tasty but desserts were a big disappointment. We also got to taste Dee’s cooking, Chicken Green Curry.

Melting Pot, Concorde Hotel Shah Alam, June 2012

Dear Diary,

If in 2011 we celebrated Hubby’s birthday at Melting Pot,Concorde Hotel KL, last year his friend treated us at Melting Pot, Concorde Hotel Shah Alam. Expecting a marvelous dinner experience like we enjoyed a year before, we left the hotel with a huge disappointment.

There was a big gap between Melting Pot Shah Alam's buffet spread with the one we savored in Melting Pot KL. It was not as impressive. Only a few items were delicious, others were such a letdown.

Not only us who were frustrated, but my brother’s lecturer (who celebrated his anniversary there) also shared the same thoughts with us regarding the foods there. Maybe it’s time the management do something to spice things up over at Melting Pot, Concorde Shah Alam.

Tan Kim Hock, Melaka, May 2012

Dear Diary,

In May, we attended my biras’ brother’s wedding in Alor Gajah.  Hubby didn’t waste the chance to ronda-ronda Melaka after attending the wedding. He loves Melaka. So, some sightseeing we did.

On one of the routes that we took, Hubby remembered a famous cendol place. He made a turn, parked the car and there we stood in front of Tan Kim Hock Production Center.

While waiting for our cendol, we combed the shop’s aisles. There are many merchandises being sold but they are ridiculously overpriced, in my opinion. I can get the same item at much cheaper price elsewhere. Hubby being himself, he still bought some snacks as buah tangan to bring home.

Then, we proceeded to Tan Kim Hock Delicious Dessert House next door. Weird! There was nobody around except for our group. I thought the cendol is famous, why there’re no customers?

When the cendol finally arrived, I eagerly tasted the desserts. It is in fact delicious. There are 2 flavors to choose - durian cendol and gula Melaka cendol. I like durian cendol better. Full of durian flavor!

Still, I think that would be my first and last visit…

Penang Village, Great Eastern Mall, May 2012

Dear Diary,

This year, for the first time, I was honored with a Mother’s Day dinner. Tak penah beria sambut pun sebelum ni, just wish gitu je. Actually, Hubby wanted to treat us at Cozy House, Great Eastern Mall but the restaurant was packed to the brim. Furthermore, the snaked waiting line outside seemed forever. Don’t know what time will be our turn. It was already nearing 9 p.m.

Next door is Penang Village. One browse of the menu and a glance at the interior, we opted to dine there instead. In less than half an hour, we were already enjoying our dinner.

We were seated at a corner near the entrance. With three active and noisy kids, I’m thankful for our strategic seating location because it kind of felt like we’re in our own private secluded area. There are several seating arrangements that patrons can enjoy. The restaurant has nice interior décor with black and white color scheme.
