Sahara Tent, Shah Alam, June 2012

Dear Diary,

Once upon a day, in our mission to find good eating places around Shah Alam, we checked out Sahara Tent. Situated at Plaza Shah Alam, Sect 9, Shah Alam, this restaurant is easily spotted if you drive by Plaza Massalam. We have passed by it countless times but never once tried dining there. An entry in Sweet, Sour and Juicy piqued my interest to give this place a try.

I like its interior ambiance.  Overall, foods are satisfactory. Sahara Tent provides catering services for weddings, parties, events, etc. There are three other branches located in Bukit Bintang, Ampang and Putrajaya.

Humus (I like Al Diafah's humus more)

Chili's, Empire Shopping Gallery, June 2012

Dear Diary,

One evening, I felt like eating western cuisine. We drove to the nearest place that offers many western fares, Empire Shopping Gallery. Among several choices available, we opted for Chili’s. Although it was peak dinner time, we received good service. The waiter was polite and courteous.

Fajita Trio - yummy
Lamb Shoulder - yummy (mashed potato - super yummy!)
Spaghetti Chicken - bland to our taste
Pepper Pals Pasta (Kids' Menu)
Chicken Burger (Kids' Menu)
Gorilla Cheese Sandwich (Kids' Menu) - yummy
Chocolate Brownie Sundae - yummy

To make it sweeter, kids get to eat free for each adult entrée. Everybody loves to hear the word free, right.

Restoran Makanan Sedap, Kota Damansara, June 2012

Dear Diary,

Apa ada pada nama…so, a saying says. Everything and nothing, I’d say. It can make or break you, depending on circumstances. Name plays an integral part because it represents an entity. When it comes to a restaurant’s name, what do you think of Makanan Sedap as a choice?

What a name, right! Candid and straightforward! There actually exists a Restoran Makanan Sedap in Kota Damansara. Hubby has been there a few times during lunch hour and he brought us there one fine evening. I like the place’s tropical resort style décor especially its rattan furniture. Staffs were very friendly, spending time talking and playing with Imran, Zarra and Irfan.

Nasi Goreng Tomyam
Nasi Goreng Black Pepper
Nasi Goreng Cina (no veggie)
Mi Kari (no veggie)

Everything was “sedap”, appropriately reflecting the restaurant’s name.

Meeting A Famous Character

Dear Diary,

On our way to Bubba Gump Shrimp & Co for our early dinner, we "stumbled" upon one famous Japanese cartoon character - DORAEMON.

Without wasting any time, I took out my camera and asked my willing models to pose for me.

Bubba Gump Shrimp & Co, The Curve, June 2012

Dear Diary,

Before watching Snow White & The Huntsman, we had an early dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp & Co. If you’re a diehard fan of blockbuster movie Forrest Gump, I think this restaurant should be included in your list of must visit places. Bubba Gump Shrimp prides itself with unique décor which uses the film as its interior theme. Everything’s based on the film.

That evening we feasted on:
Hush Pups - yummy
Run Chicken Run Pasta
Crazy Cajun Chicken - yummy
Salmon & Veggie Skillet
Beverages (Marvelous milkshake!)
Kids Menu (Include French fries, Jell-O and fruit juice)

Come to think of it, nobody ordered shrimp. There was no shrimp in our meals at all.

Snow White & The Huntsman

Dear Diary,

When I was a little girl, I read both local and foreign fairy tales. I am familiar with stories of Bawang Putih Bawang Merah, Badang, Sinbad, Aladdin, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, etc. One of the princess fairy tales is Snow White. I bet most of us know the story very well.

Many months back, I got the chance to catch an adult and more serious version of our childhood Snow White tale. The movie entitled Snow White & The Huntsman, is directed by Rupert Sanders and starred by Kristen Stewart (Snow White), Chris Hemsworth (The Huntsman) and Charlize Theron (Queen Ravenna).

The film possesses the same storyline but with some modern twists. There’s The Queen who hates Snow White and there’s also The Huntsman who was hired by The Queen to kill Snow White. To spice up the story, there’re dwarves, poisoned apple and prince charming too.

As we all already know, The Huntsman didn’t kill Snow White. She lives. BUT she doesn’t just accept whatever life has for her. Snow White fought back instead. The Huntsman who is supposed to be her killer, becomes her mentor. Together, they wage a war against Ravenna.

In my humble opinion, there’re certain parts of the movie that I felt a bit boring and dragging too long. Maybe it’s just me. Well, I don’t really like Kristen Stewart’s way of acting. On the contrary, Charlize Theron plays her role superbly.

I strongly feel that Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron) is far more beautiful than Snow White (Kristen Stewart).  I fall in love with Chris Hemsworth when he was Thor for the first time, now I fall in love again with him as The Huntsman.
