"Mama, I smell cookie!"

Dear Diary,

I’m sure most of you recognize the mouthwatering Famous Amos cookies. My son’s nose can whiff the sweet smelling aroma from afar. It’s a wonder to me because Imran can surely identify Famous Amos ever since he started talking. Whenever we go out to a place that has Famous Amos booth, without fail he would say, “Mama, I smell cookie!” That translates to searching for the source of the aroma and purchasing the cookies eventually.

Well truth be told, Mama also loves the crunchy cookies.

The Akad Nikah

Dear Diary,

(continued from The Preparations)
This is it! The day finally arrived. I woke up early in the morning as it would take some time to get ready for the big ceremony. The akad nikah ceremony would be carry out in the morning around 10am at Masjid Rafeah, Taman Uda attended by family members from both bride and groom sides. I wore a modern cream colored lacy baju kurung with gold organza selendang and put on a very minimal make up.

30th June 2001 will be forever etched in my mind because on that day at exactly 10.02am I became somebody’s wife. Tears welled up in my eyes as the Imam pronounced the akad nikah is sah. It symbolizes the dawn of a new chapter in my life. After this I would be known first and foremost as Mr. F’s wife not as my father’s daughter anymore. It was as if there was a gap suddenly exists between me and my family. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still my parents’ daughter and always will but it just would not be the same anymore. Do you guys get what I’m trying to say? Oh well, maybe the emotions were playing tricks on me and got me all messed up.
On the other hand, I’d also get a whole new family. Both my in laws came from big families (father in law – 12 siblings, mother in law – 11 siblings + 5 half siblings). Imagine the countless names and faces that I would have to know and remember…I survived yea!!

After recital of doa ended, Mr. F slipped a diamond ring onto my finger and handed me the mas kahwin which was neatly arranged in an album. Then, he kissed my forehead after I salam his hand.
ps: to be continued in The Wedding (Bride)

Durian + Rabbit = Fun! Fun! Fun!

Dear Diary,

This post is long overdue because my family took this trip during the first week of July. We were invited by Mr. Ong to his father’s orchard to eat durian. The 10 acre orchard is situated in Broga, a rustic town on the border of Selangor and Negeri Sembilan. It is a little further than Semenyih. I’ve never been farther than Semenyih (if using Kajang old road). We enjoyed picturesque greenery along the way. The town also boasts of Broga Hill, a tourist spot and University of Nottingham branch campus.

When we arrived at Happy Fruit Land, Ermayum and her family were already there enjoying the durians. It didn’t take long before we were also feasting on the yummy king of fruits. The durians were superlicious (sedap berlemak!) with thick and tender flesh. We also had rambutans.

The children had a blast playing among themselves and learning a thing or two about fruit trees and animals. Before we said goodbye, Mr. Ong gave us some durians and rambutans to bring home. So, for dinner we had pulut durian….mmm.

On the way back, we couldn’t resist making another stop for the kids. We visited Rabbit Fun Land. My two angels had a wonderful time running around feeding the rabbits. There are also other animals such as horses, mouse deers, birds and goats. It’s like a mini zoo and both Imran and Zarra love it. There is also a restaurant that serves rabbit meat but we didn’t try it out.

So Frustrating!

Dear Diary,

Last night, I went to bed earlier than my usual bedtime because I felt a little bit tired. Also, Hubby has to be at his office earlier this morning which means I would have to get my son ready for school earlier too. To my disappointment, my mind just couldn’t stop thinking stuffs and my eyes refused to shut. Of all the time, every little thing popped up in my mind. I was turning and tossing in my bed for nearly 3 hours. I was about to doze off when, “Mama, Adam nak kencing.”

To make matters worse, my son had already wet his bed. So, there was changing of pajama and bed sheet. This does not happen before, I mean the bedwetting. Maybe it was because of the heavy rain and it was a bit colder than usual. As I was making myself comfortable into slumber land, my little girl said, “Mama, Zarra nak susu.”

Finally, at around 3am something, I reached dreamland. Does this scenario (difficult to sleep) ever happen to you? What should I do when it happens? Any suggestions...?

Italiannies Sunway Pyramid, June 2010

Dear Diary,

30th June came again. It was my 9th wedding anniversary. Gosh, we’ve been married for 9 years already. How time flies! It seemed like only yesterday we were being introduced. As I already wrote in Early Surprises....!, we’ve exchanged gifts earlier. So, on that blissful day, we went for a dinner at Italiannies Sunway Pyramid. Just the two of us....rasa cam keluar dating lak hehe.

Ripe Mango Shake
These were what we ordered. My Lasagna was very fulfilling...generously lavished with lots of cheese. Hubby didn’t like his Penne so much. The taste was a bit bland for our taste buds. Maybe if it was spiced up just a little bit, it would be nicer. Lidah Melayu kan... We wanted to order dessert however we couldn’t even finish our main courses. We were so full. The portions were plentiful. One plate of its main dish can be shared by two people. Service is swift and decoration is so Italian.

Complimentary from Italiannies

Toasted Bruschetta

Penne Bolognese & Grape Shake

Lasagna A La Ravina
I pray to Allah there will be many more anniversaries for us to celebrate in the future…Amin.

Early Surprises....!

Dear Diary,
I got an early surprise for my anniversary. A week before the actual date, Hubby came home and tadaaa presented me with a brand new Acer laptop. I was so touched. It was a 2-in-1 present for my birthday and anniversary. Semakin bersemangat le nak blogging hehe...

Since he gave me the present early, I also shyly gave him his 2-in-1 present. Mine was nothing compared to his gift. I bought him a set of Burberry perfume. What’s special about my present was that it was bought in Abu Dhabi (I asked my steward cousin to do me a favor).

Since we are on the topic of surprises, Hubby blew me away with another surprise on my birthday. We didn't make any plans because we already celebrated a 3-in-1 dinner at Italiannies. So, you can imagine my feelings when he brought home a Secret Recipe cake for us to indulge. Thanks sayang....
