The Teapot Deli, SACC Mall, May 2012

Dear Diary,

Irfan went for his last check up at DEMC in May. He got his 1 and half years jab. Hubby couldn’t accompany me to the pediatrician, so he just dropped us off there. I was quite nervous at first as that would my first outing alone with both Zarra and Irfan. Can I manage both? Will they act up?

After we were done with doctor’s appointment, I looked at the watch. There was ample time before Hubby’s lunch hour when he would be picking us up. I braved myself and off we went to SACC Mall. It’s the nearest place I could think off that would be enjoyable for all three of us. We just walked around and window shopped. At some point, I even let the kids roamed freely. The kids were well behaved overall. Though there was one time when Zarra started to make a fuss but after a good explanation she’s back to her good self.

Dah jalan-jalan, perut berkeroncong la pulak. I remembered The Teapot Deli mentioned by Ermayum in her blog and thought to give it a try. I’ve passed by this place a few times before but never went in. The Teapot Deli is noticeable because of its distinct English style decoration. Very sweet and girlish! The staffs are friendly and courteous. They explained lengthily when I asked about the items on the menu. The cashier (who I suspect is the owner) was very concern whether I can manage to hold everything or not (the takeaway pies, stroller and the kids).

I’m glad I decided to go to SACC. It was a pleasant outing. The three of us had a chance to spend quality bonding time outside the house for a change.

Fried Rice with Fried Chicken – a bit spicy for the kids
Roast Chicken – the meat easily fell off from the bone. Yummy!
Chicken Pie – Imran teringin sangat nak makan pie, tapau untuk dia. Yummy!
Summer Cake – butter cake (my guess) with jam in between layers. So so!

Location: BR-29, Barika @ 2nd Floor, SACC Mall, Jalan Perbadanan 14/9, Pusat Bandar Shah Alam, 40000 Shah Alam, Selangor.

Genting Indoor Theme Park, May 2012

Dear Diary,

During Labor Day holiday, we made a day trip up to Genting. It was a spur of the moment trip, an impromptu decision. Saja melarikan diri ke puncak untuk menikmati cuaca dingin. We just wanted to spend a few hours of excitement at Genting Indoor Theme Park.

As soon as we arrived, we straightaway went to The Kopitiam Food Hall to fill up our stomachs. Then, we hit the games arcades at Vision City – a video games park. We didn’t go on any rides at all instead we just played all sorts of video games. There are lots to try out you know!

The fun part was there are video games that reward the player with tickets. So, pulun la si bapa dan anak-anak dok kumpul tiket as many as possible. To make it sweeter, you can redeem things from all the tickets that you get. So, before we called it a day or night more precisely, we redeemed all our tickets at Ticket Eater machine. The machine will give out a receipt with total tickets collected.

Then, we made another stop at this one shop called Gallery something. You can only redeem your gifts at this shop. First, you have to convert all your tickets’ total to monetary value. Don’t worry; you don’t have to do it by yourself. The shop assistant will calculate for you the conversion. The amount from the conversion is the monetary value that you can spend. If a merchandise that you like worth more than the value, you have to top up the difference.

The trick is almost 95% merchandise sold at the shop is expensive. Very cunning marketing strategy! Like in our case, all together our tickets totaled 1456 which was converted to RM42. Jenuh budak-budak ni pusing kedai cari barang equivalent to that amount. Finally, they settled for Faber Castell color pencils (24 units) and Faber Castell Complete Creative Set (stationery set). Still, we had to add a few more ringgit. No more days of “winning” teddy bear or plush toys freely, well at least here it was a thing of the past. Pandai depa buat duit!

Since we were already up there, for sure I’d want to meet my lovely sister and her husband. Somehow, Hubby missed the junction to her workplace and drove straight into road back to KL. Unfortunately, it’s a one way road! Leka bersembang nilah jadinya.

Aidiladha 2012 in Shah Alam

Dear Diary,

This year’s Aidiladha came and went quietly. Though thousands made their balik kampung trips, the celebration was generally a modest one throughout the nation. We didn’t go back to either Kedah or Kelantan. Our Aidiladha was a very simple affair at Abah’s house.

The day started with solat raya at a nearby mosque, followed by a sumptuous big brunch of nasi hujan panas, sambal sotong, ayam goreng berempah, acar timun, lemang, rendang daging, nasi impit and kuah kacang and ended with watching television.

Tengok tu...sorang pegang PSP, sorang pegang remote Astro
Letih main, letih gaduh....tertidur 3 beradik

Nevertheless, what’s more important is that the festivity was celebrated among loved ones.

Diapers & Bottled Milk

Dear Diary,

Alhamdulillah, I’m very thankful to Allah. Dipermudahkan segala urusan…

Zarra has stopped wearing diaper during day times since she was 2 years old. She only wears them at night when she sleeps. At 4 years of age, Zarra is now totally diaper-free. All this happened about a week after raya. The transition was very easy. Just because her two cousins, Rayyan (same age as her) and Seema (a year younger than her) do not wear diaper at night anymore, she too doesn’t want to be left out. Alhamdulillah…

Another progress that Zarra achieved is drinking her milk from glass instead of bottle. Yang ni susah sikit. She’s very attached to her bottle. Though she consumes lesser amount of bottled milk now compared to when she was younger, she still does especially when she wants to go to sleep. She accomplishes this progress though half heartedly because she promised me she wouldn’t be drinking bottled milk during our planned traveling this coming school holiday. Okay, I admit I twist fact a bit. I know she’s ready so why not influence her now when the timing is perfect.

On the same note, Imran achieved both these developments at much later age. He completely stopped wearing diaper when he was 6 years old (did not wear diaper during day times at 3 years old) and stopped drinking milk from bottle when he was 5 years old. Imran ni terlebih manja, dapat adik lambat (jarak 4 tahun). Tu la pasal :-)

This entry is for my own reference and their memento in future.
