Turki, Nov 2012

Dear Diary,

We survived the 10 hour KL-Istanbul flight in one piece.  One thing about long haul flight is there’s nothing much a person can do. Makan, tidoq, makan, tidoq ja la kegheja aku.

Alhamdulillah, we safely touched down at Istanbul Ataturk Airport or also known as Ataturk International Airport at the break of dawn on November 19, 2012. There was quite a long queue at immigration check point but there were many counters opened. Our group went through immigration breezily without any hassle. Our local tour guide, Elif, who had been waiting for us, greeted and welcomed us. This friendly lady is smitten with Zarra.

We boarded our bus. For the next 7 days, we spent most of our waking hours on this bus. Ibrahim Gedik, our bus driver, is a quiet man but very helpful.

Turkey is strategically located on two continents, Asia and Europe. This factor enhances Turkey’s uniqueness because visitors get to experience both worlds. The diversity is even evidenced in Turkish facial features, traces of Asians and Europeans descendents are noticeable. Along the same line, Turkey is also famous for its historical relics and landmarks.
