An Outing to Sunway Pyramid

Dear Diary,

Sunway Pyramid mascots
During one September weekend, we had another family outing at Sunway Pyramid. This time around, we were very lucky because we got to watch Malaysia Day celebration organized by Sunway Pyramid. It was quite a pleasant surprise since we didn’t have any idea that there was going to be a festival.

As we were admiring the decorations at one of the concourse areas, dragon dance music can be heard loudly in the air. Its catchy rhythm attracted our attention to search for the source of the music. All of a sudden, a green dragon troupe came descending the escalator.

Wait, there were another 4 lion dance troupes following the dragon. By this time, Imran and Zarra were already ecstatic with joy. Irfan on the other hand clung tightly to Hubby because he’s scared of the loud music.

It did not stop there, next came down a group of kompang players. The air was filled with kompang sounds.

The atmosphere was not yet calm down from the kompang sounds when we heard Indian drums’ beatings. Wow, upbeat sound of Bangra music was being played by a group of young Indian lads.

It was a very good exposure to Imran and Zarra. They asked a lot of questions regarding the music. I hope they learned something. 1 Malaysia Night indeed it was!

Good times in Tesco Shah Alam

Dear Diary,

Since moving to Shah Alam, I’ve been frequenting Tesco Bulatan Kayangan for my grocery shopping. These pictures were taken during one of our shopping trips.

While Hubby and I were busy putting our groceries into bags, these three munchkins were busy "driving" toy vehicles.

Action je lebih, tak letak duit pun tu hihihi.

Singing Their Hearts Out

Dear Diary,

Apa saja si kakak buat, si adik pasti ikut buat sama.

Elok sangat la tu. Sorang menyanyi pegang sudu, sorang lagi menyanyi pegang botol sos.

Menyanyi bersungguh-sungguh pulak tu!

2 Siblings

Dear Diary,

This is an entry about these two wonderful kids. They're close. In fact, Irfan is closer to Zarra compared to Imran. Maybe this is due to 2 years age gap between them compared to 4 and 6 years age gap between them and their eldest brother.

The first thing Irfan asks every morning as soon as he wakes up is his sister. "Kakak mana?" In whatever situation, Irfan surely remembers his sister. They play together. Of course, they quarrel too. Zarra is more considerate towards Irfan and can tolerate him better than Imran. In short, sayang benar la Irfan kat kakak dia and it shows.

Kawasan Rekreasi Sungai Inki, Kalumpang, Sept 2012

Dear Diary,

Stuffed with nasi lemak and bihun goreng, we continued our journey to Kawasan Rekreasi Sungai Inki in Kalumpang and arrived there around noon. We straightaway went to Abah’s friend’s chalet, Chalet Keluarga Sakri. It is located at the end of rows of chalets at Sungai Inki recreational area.

To get there, first we must cross over the river using a hanging bridge.

Chalet Keluarga Sakri is a nicely landscaped chalet with camping areas, picnic areas, accommodation and praying room. There’re also farm animals running around much to the kids delight.

Sungai Inki is one of the many rivers in Hulu Selangor district. When we arrived at the recreational area, there were already many people around. Some were eating, some were in the water, some were cooking or barbecuing, some were talking, some were sleeping and others were just lazing in the sun. Kids were full with laughter playing in the water.

At the entrance of Sungai Inki picnic area, there are some stalls selling snacks, beverages and pelampung (life buoy). There’re also toilets for visitors’ usage with RM0.50 charge per entry. Parking spaces are very limited.

The clear river water is refreshingly cool with shallow and deep spots to suit your preferences. Be careful too because some of the rocks are slippery. One thing sad is that there were rubbish in the water and also in the picnic area. It’s such a pity when picnickers littered and dirtied this beautiful place. I can’t fathom Malaysians’ way of thinking and social ethics. Dustbins are everywhere but still these uncivic-minded people throw rubbish and everything unwanted just about anywhere they like.

Gerai Haji Din Nasi Lemak, Tanjung Malim, Sept 2012

Dear Diary,

End of September last year, there was a family picnic with Hubby’s family. Early morning that weekend, all of us got ready all psyched up looking forward to a day of splashing in cool refreshing river water. Our destination was Tanjung Malim. En route to the picnic spot, we stopped for breakfast at Gerai Haji Din Nasi Lemak.

Nasi lemak is a popular dish among Malaysians. It is versatile because it can be eaten at any time of the day. Since we arrived a bit later in the morning, not all of us can taste Gerai Haji Din’s nasi lemak. There were only three plates of nasi lemak left. As substitutes, some of us ate bihun goreng. Taste wise, it was acceptable.

Address: Medan Selera MDTM, 35900 Tanjung Malim, Perak.
