The crime scene

It was a cool and quiet evening two days ago. I was preparing dinner and my two eldest children were taking a bath when suddenly there was a loud noise followed by Irfan’s crying. Oh my, a small table toppled onto Irfan. Only minutes ago he was playing with some toys in the living room. He must have tried to climb and reach some thing on the table. He had been doing that forever.

Within seconds the area above his right eye was swollen. I tried putting ice on it but he vehemently pushed my hand away. So, I just hushed him down. That night we went to a clinic just to make sure he’s okay. After thorough examination, the doctor said there was nothing to worry about. Irfan’s vision and reflexes are okay. Furthermore there was no vomiting, only a slight fever and phlegm coughing.

After seeing the doctor

Last night was the worst for Irfan. He was burning up and coughing. He couldn’t sleep and was restless. No wonder he had been very clingy the whole day yesterday and when he didn’t want to eat his dinner, I knew something was not right with him.

Today

Alhamdulillah, this morning the temperature subsides. His appetite comes back and he ate two bowls of rice with chicken soup. He played with his Abang and Kakak and he’s back to his active self. “Adik, you made me worried sick the whole night. I know you’re in the stage where you want to explore everything but take it slow and steady dear.”
