As usual my alarm goes off at 5:30am every morning. Today was no exception. I woke up and went about with my everyday routine; thus, started my day on a rainy Friday morning.
Coming back from sending Imran to school, I checked up on Zarra and Irfan. That’s when I notice Zarra’s face looks weird. Lo and behold, the area between her nose and upper lip is swollen. No wonder she was restless in her sleep last night. Upon further inspection, I found out that it’s actually her gum (upper front teeth area) that is swollen.
We quickly got ready and went to a dentist. In the beginning, Zarra was very cool and confident about seeing the dentist. There was no problem for the dentist to inspect her gum. She gave us two options. First, the slow method which is she’ll give us some medicines (including antibiotic). All in pill form and taste very bitter. At home, crush them into powder, mix with any syrup and give her using syringe. It will take a few days for the swelling to subside. The second and faster method is for her to make a small incision on Zarra’s gum so the pus inside has a channel to flow out.
Knowing how difficult to persuade Zarra to take her medicine, we chose the latter. The dentist applied some local anesthesia on Zarra’s gum. When Zarra’s mouth started to feel numb and felt weird to her, she sensed something was going to happen to her. Then, she started to resist treatment. Gone were the coolness and confidence! So, Hubby had to hold and sit with her. The procedure was a quick one and without we know it, she’s back to being her mak nenek self again.
