Kedai Makanan Heng, Alor Setar, Dec 2010

Dear Diary,

Whenever I go back to Kedah, without fail I’d go to Kedai Makanan Heng (one of my favorite eating spots). Wait! Don’t jump to any conclusion just yet. Yes, this restaurant is owned by an old sweet Chinese lady but her cook is a Muslim.

This simple shop is located in Jalan Tunku Abdul Halim (near Market Koboi), sandwich between Rukun Tetangga and Klinik Pergigian Besar Teluk Wanjah. It opens from noon till around 4pm and closes on Friday. If you want to have lunch there, you better go early. If not, you’d have to wait for your seats. Worse yet, you’d have to fight for seats during peak lunch hours.

Every time I eat at this shop, I’ll always order fried rice, kailan and ikan bawal. Sorry, I don’t know all the menus’ names but somehow the lady tauke knows which dish I want.

Salam Unaizah,
This is sooooo close to my Mak's house. Are you familiar with the curry mee joint at the Stesen Bas Baru (now dah jadi GM)? Best in town!

Naz - Salam perkenalan. Thank you for visiting and following. I'm not so fond of curry me but i'll check out your suggestion next time i go balik kampung. Selalu my parents makan mi kari kat Kopitiam kat Kanchut.
